Initially arisen from the manufacturing of aircraft engines, BMW started the production of motorcycles in 1923. As a little-known fact, its manufacturing of motorcycles looks back on a longer tradition than their automobiles, which came along in 1927. The roots in aviation and the bond with the home base in Bavaria may still be visible in the blue and white propeller logo.
